The Beauty Range That's Transformed My Skin

I do harp on about it a lot, but when it comes to skincare, I’m very particular (and so is my skin). And especially with my wedding coming up, I only want to use products that I feel confident will work for my skin and not cause any dermal dramas. I tend to experiment rarely, preferring to only make the leap to a new product or range when I feel sure that it will do more good than harm. For years, I was a huge fan of La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo to deal with hormonal skin, but since that’s calmed down, I’ve been looking for products that help to refine my skin’s texture, keep it looking bright and smooth, and keep any blemishes at bay. And somehow, I’ve managed to find a collection that does all of that and more.

Step forward, Ole Henriksen.

After Ole Henriksen launched into Boots a few months back, I started hearing a few stories about how effective the range was, in particular the Transform collection, and after the noise become constant, I decided to make the leap and try the 3 Little Wonders set* as a sampler. Honestly, I haven’t looked back. Allow me to tell you a little more…

The 3 Little Wonders collection is a great starter kit for anyone intrigued by Ole Henriksen; it includes mini versions of three of the brand’s cult products, including the Truth Serum, the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturiser and the Invigorating Night Transformation Gel (which was the product that initially sparked my interest in the brand).

Ole Henriksen promises to transform your skin in 7 days - and honestly, I really did see the difference. I started each morning by cleansing as usual, before using one pump of the Truth Serum, which is packed with vitamin C and collagen, to brighten and firm up my skin. Considering I wasn’t really too bothered on the Truth Serum before I started using it, I now consider myself a complete convert - it was that good. So good in fact that when I had my first bridal makeup trial at Bobbi Brown, the MUA asked what I was using and couldn’t stop touching my skin!

Post-Truth Serum, I use the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturiser, which is a gorgeously silky, light whipped moisturiser that is unlike any other I’ve used. It sinks into skin immediately without leaving a greasy film on the skin, and just leaves my skin feeling instantly quenched, but in a weightless way. The moisturiser works to refine uneven skintone and texture, and helps to make the skin more luminous; it’s so gently effective that Ole Henriksen recommend using it as an AM and PM moisturiser, which I do religiously (I’ve since upgraded to the full size). It provides the perfect smooth base for makeup and my skin just looks fresher and brighter.

When it comes to the night-time routine, I was so impressed by the three-step regime I’d been using with the mini range, that I decided to take it up a notch and try the product which so many people were raving about: the Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner. I do like to use an acid on my skin in the evenings, but none have been so gentle yet so effective as this. It’s truly transformed my skin. It’s described online as a ‘powerhouse’ of a toner, and I couldn’t agree more. It targets dark spots, fine line and wrinkles, eradicating scar marks from spots and helping to smooth the overall texture of my skin. I feel like my skin looks and feels so much better since using this toner, it’s incredible the difference it’s made. I haven’t had any breakouts since; I had one spot threatening to erupt one evening, but a swipe of this on a cotton pad pre-bedtime as usual, and it had retreated by morning. Plus, it smells amazing - like lemons and sugar! It does tingle, and sensitive skins might need to build up to the recommended nightly use, but it really is worth the tingle, it’s just fabulous.

My final step is another one that I’m going to rave about: The Invigorating Night Transformation Gel. This is a lightweight, instantly-absorbing gel that is packed with a concentration of AHAs, including glycolic and lactic acids, to retexturise the skin and leave it looking polished, bright, smooth and clear. I use half a pump every evening (yes, I’ve since upgraded to full-size on this product too) every evening after cleansing and toning, and then apply another light layer of the Moisturiser. It’s a potent but lightweight combination that my skin seems to adore - I wake up with more luminous skin that looks and feels plumper, fuller and just better, in every way.

So, take it from a total fusspot when it comes to skincare: I think Ole Henriksen is worth the spends. It’s not cheap, particularly not for a selection of products, but the starter kit is a purse-friendly way to try out the range and see how it works for you. I’d highly recommend it!
