September Style Wishlist

I've probably said it a million times before - but in case you didn't know, September is my favourite month, and autumn is by far my favourite season. Give me knitwear and ankle boots over summer dresses any day!

So in lieu of me actually being able to go shopping for a new-season autumn wardrobe this year (or next year, lol), I've put together a wishlist of all the pieces I'd head out and buy right now, if all of my spare funds weren't being squirrelled away for the wedding. There's cosy knits, there's chic boots - there's even sequins (would it be a TSS wishlist without sequins?).

Enjoy my friends, and I will live vicariously through you...

The Statement Knit. This pink/burgundy chevron knit is from good old M&S and is bound to be everywhere this season. Grab it now before it sells out - it would look super cute with a leather skirt, bare legs and ankle boots just now, and extra cosy with a midi skirt and tights once the chill sets in.

The Disco Day Boots. September isn't complete without a jazzy new pair of boots, and they don't come much jazzier than a pair of silver cowboy boots. Oh yes, you heard that right. This pair from Office are seriously cool and would add so much swagger to a simple jeans-and-tee combo.

The French-Girl Cardigan. Ok, I might have to break my spending ban for this one. Parisian supermodel Ines de la Fressange has just launched another of her sell-out collections for Uniqlo, and this chunky grey cardi is just catnip to a Francophile like me. Don't you just want to slip it on over a camisole and midi skirt, with socks and ankle boots and a stack of books to read outdoors? Just me?

The Versatile Midi Dress. Everyone needs a chic midi dress that takes them wherever they need to go, in style. This dress ticks the boxes for me - pair with loafers and a belt for the office, with heels and a clutch for a dinner date, or slip over that Uniqlo cardi and ankle boots for laidback weekend chic.

The Retro Pinafore. Sixties style is my favourite genre, and autumn is when you can really go to town with this look. I love a pinafore dress and this Topshop one is not just any pinafore dress - it's forest green, it's corduroy, it's got an open back and it's got pockets. Need I say more?

The Sequin Skirt. I've had this skirt on my wishlist for a few months now, and I'm still obsessed with it. Yes, a silver ruffled sequin midi skirt isn't exactly practical everyday wear, but hear me out - this is actually more versatile than you'd think. Try it with a white tee and trainers for a glam/laidback weekend look, pop on a jumper and some heeled ankle boots for slightly dressier activity, and pair it with a slinky camisole and strappy heels for all-out glam. Disco ball chic is where it's at, my friends.

The Slogan Sweater. Yes, this edit is quite knitwear-heavy, but who could resist a slogan sweater, especially one with a French phrase emblazoned on it? This Whistles jumper is the kind of wardrobe staple you need in your life, no explanations required.

The Nude Lip. Autumn calls for darker eye makeup, of course, but paired with that - a deliciously creamy nude lipstick. Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Confession feels like the perfect shade to me!

The Blush Boots. Another day, another statement pair of boots - but before winter properly sets in, a pair of pink boots could be just what your autumn wardrobe needs. This pair from Office is in a gorgeous shade of warm, dusky pink is the perfect way to pep up a simpler outfit - imagine them teamed with a pair of chunky grey socks, a pleated midi and an oversized jumper. Gorgeous!
