Spring Wardrobe Wishlist
It might still be chilly and grey outside, but I've started thinking about those sunny, blue-skied Spring days yet to come, and all of the new additions to my wardrobe that I need to start making space for. I've really tried to cut down on shopping in the last few months, just shopping seasonally and only to add necessary pieces to the mix, with only the odd frivolous purchase here and there - this is going to come in especially handy while we're saving for the wedding.
Spring style is, for me, about mixing classic pieces with fresh little pops of colour, prints and ways to show off little flashes of skin that you just can't get away with in Winter. These cropped, tasselled black skinnies are a perfect example of that, as are these Parisian-style blue denim dungarees; they can still be worn with a long-sleeved Breton or a thin knit, but the little flash of ankle is super cool and a great way to update your look for Spring. I would definitely pair either of these pieces with a great classic Breton and some cool trainers, along with a slick of a great colour-pop lipstick and a chic little cross-body bag - I especially love this cute candy-pink one.
I always love updating my shoes in Springtime too - switching from Winter boots to loafers, sandals and pretty little heels is just the best. I really like this pretty ankle-strap pointed-toe shoes for day or evening wear; they'd look just as cute with a midi skirt as they would with the dungarees or the tasselled jeans, and you could wear them to work, to dinner, or even to a Spring wedding. Which brings me to my final point...
Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.
We have the first wedding of our friendship circle this Spring and despite me promising myself that I already have plenty of unworn and perfectly suitable dresses to wear, of course I tripped and fell in the ASOS sale and ended up buying a new one for their big day. Hope & Ivy is a beautiful womenswear label exclusive to ASOS, and almost immediately I was drawn to the prettiest printed midi dress (the one pictured here is almost identical but the colourway is different, the actual one I bought is here). I love the gorgeous pale mint colour (I literally have nothing green in my wardrobe - that's how I'm justifying this purchase), and the print - the print on my dress is botanical-inspired, with birds, leaves and lots of greenery. But I also love that it's a totally suitable wedding-guest dress with twists that make it feel like me - a high neck, balloon sleeves, the black lace cut-out detailing, and the very dramatic cut-out back. I can't wait to wear this, with black platform heels and a cute clutch - bring on the Spring weddings!
Will you be adding anything to your wardrobe this Spring?
