The Style Stories: The Little Red Dress
Dress, Bag and Shoes: River Island*
It won't have escaped your notice that the past few weeks have been really warm - even in Edinburgh, surprisingly. And so the annual what-the-hell-am-I-going-to-wear debacle begins - except that this year, I had this nifty little number to pull out of the wardrobe, solving all those summer sartorial issues in one fell swoop.
We all know I love florals, and we all know I love a red dress, so when River Island got in touch earlier this summer to ask me to pick a new outfit, this floral tea dress* leapt out at me straightaway. It's so pretty and best of all, it's super comfy - perfect for stifling summer days. The jersey fabric is so light and swishy, and it's not cut too close, so it doesn't feel tight or restrictive. I love this kind of dress as it's so versatile, I wore this whole outfit to brunch but it also reminds me of something Alexa Chung might have worn to Glasto back in 2008 - so much so that I decided to do my own twist on the look and wore this dress to TRNSMT last weekend with some studded black ankle boots.
But back to this look, and on to the shoes - I struggle to find comfy heels which aren't miles high and these strappy black sandals* fit the bill for summer time perfectly. I love them with this little dress but they look so cute to dress up skinny jeans too, I know I'll get so much wear out of them through summer and beyond.
The finishing touch? This super glam, red chain strap bag*, perfect for dressing up a more casual ensemble and taking it to a new level of glam. This little bag is surprisingly roomy and perfect for a weekend brunch date - and I just love that gold hardware.
